Rigomagno

A characteristic medieval town, part of the municipality of Sinalunga, it was originally situated on a slope farther north. Its name probably derives from the alteration of the name of the Foenna stream, considered a “Rigum Magnum”, a large creek near which the ancient town of Rigomagno was found. The move onto the hill was due to the gradual deterioration of the place as the Val  di Chiana turned into a swamp.
