Sarteano, historic town centre

Located on the spurs of the Val d'Orcia in a plateau bordering the Val di Chiana, it had been inhabited since the Palaeolithic era and then, experienced a period of splendour in Etruscan and Roman times, as testified by the numerous traces still visible in the area and preserved in the museums. The historic town centre of Sarteano bears all the characteristics of a medieval town dominated by the castle and a large number of churches.
