Scrofiano

A village in the municipality of Sinalunga, it originated around the year 1000. The first documents date back to the 12th century and refer to the presence of the Cacciaconti. Around the first half of the 15th century, it was part of the Republic of Siena and was the site of a victorious battle between the besieged Ghibellines from Siena and the Guelphs from Florence. It was not subject to medieval and Renaissance swamping which occurred in Val di Chiana, as testified by the plan of the Val di Chiana created by Leonardo da Vinci in 1502.
